Chidambaram’s election hiccup continues…

The most controversial election result, announced from the Sivaganga constituency, was that of the current Home Minister P Chidambaram. He was announced the winner after much hiccups.

After more than a month of the announcement of the result, Raja Kannappan (AIADMK) who was first announced the winner has filed a case in the Madras High Court on Thursday seeking recounting and to declare the election void in the constituency.

It may be recalled that Chidambaram won by a slender margin of just over 4000 votes against his rival Kannappan who got 330,994 votes.

In his petition, Kannappan stated that 1,400 votes from Alangudi district that was in his favor were transferred to Chidambaram. He also complained about the officials involved in election malpractices.
