In what was suspected to be an accident turned out to be a murder. The DMK leader and Maruchur Panchayat leader Sundaramoorthy died on Tuesday in a fire accident, after the crackers stored in his house exploded.

Sundaramoorthy was charred to death when an explosion occurred in his house while he was asleep. It took an hour to control the fire and by then Sundarmoorthy was charred to death.

The forensic reports had a new dimension to the story. They have revealed that kerosene was sparged on the deceased. The post mortem reports revealed that the death is due to fire burns.

Further investigations by the Arani police revealed that the wife of Sundaramoorthy, Sendhamarai, was having an illicit affair with her neighbor Mathi and both planned the murder after Sundaramoorthy came to know about their intimacy. Both the wife of the deceased as well as the neighbor were arrested and have confessed to the crime.
