Looking to maintain the state of the test cricket, the International Cricket Council has showed the green signal for the day-nighter trail next year.

The sport’s governing body has also approved the video referrals for the five day format of the game. And this rule will give room for the batsman and the fielding captain to refer decisions to the television officials. And this rule is said to take its effect from this October.

However the team is limited to only 2 unsuccessful referrals per innings.

Sources also say that the ICC has also decided to have a debate on Thursday on Pakistan’s hosting capabilities in the upcoming 2011 World cup which is to be held in the sub continent.

However replying to the new rule’s from the governing body over the longer version of the game, former Australian opener gilchrist said. "Test cricket should be tampered with as little as is possible. Its rules, customs and playing conditions, like Major League Baseball, should remain as close to how it has been played for the past 130 years.

"Many of cricket's innovations should be applied only in the shorter forms of the game. This not only includes the expanded umpire referral system, but especially the mooted introduction of night Test cricket and a different colored ball needed to accommodate this."
