One negative prediction about the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has put an astrologer in police custody.

Chandrasiri Bandara, a well known astrologer in Sri Lanka, stated changes in the Sri Lankan political scenario against the current regime. The police Crime Investigation Department (CID) have arrested Bandara and are questioning him for his political comments.

In Sri Lanka it is a common among politicians and even commoners approaching astrologers to get advice on auspicious day and time to start any new venture.

Bandara is a popular astrologer who conducts TV shows, writes columns and also gives private consultations.

A media right group has issued a statement which reads: “A media culture cannot be based on slapping charges against journalists, fining them or sending them to jail.”
