PMK’s exit fetches more seats for the UPA allies

The DMK and the Congress have at last finalized the seat sharing for the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress will contest in 16 seats and the DMK will have a major share of 21 seats. The VCK will be given 2 seats and the IUML will contest for 1 seat. This includes the state of Tamil Nadu and the Union territory of Puducherry. The agreement was signed by the TNCC president K V Thangabalu and the DMK Chief M Karunanidhi in the attendance of AICC general secretary Gulam Nabi Azad.

Only the numbers of seats were declared and the constituencies will be announced later. Both the Congress and the DMK has gained more seats this time as the PMK left the UPA to join hands with the AIADMK. During the last Lok Sabha elections, the Congress contested for 10 seats and the DMK for 15 seats.

Speaking about the alliance, Azad stated that the alliance will win all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. On alliance with DMDK, Azad refused to give an answer.
