The coast of Kerala is under high alert, as the Navy personnel have reported to have spotted some unidentified persons landing in Alappuzha district along the coast of Pallipuram yesterday afternoon.

According to sources, the Navy’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) reported some 15 men carrying rug sacks stepping out off a fishing boat. The intelligence reports suspect the possible LTTE arrival. A similar landing was spotted at Ayirathai Beach near Arthunkal.

Two helicopters were rushed to the spot but were unable to identify them as the men have merged with the local population. The boat in which they came also could not be distinguished as there are loads of similar boats moving in and out of the bay area.

Another credible information says that around 10 or more people got off coast of Arthunkal between 3.30 and 4.00 pm yesterday.

The Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose stated that there is no need to panic as this may be a regular fisher folk activity too.
