Chennai boy in F1 Grand Prix series

March 05, 2010 05:35 PM

After Narain Karthikeyan, it is now Karun Chandhok of Chennai, who will be a part of the 2010 Formula One Grand Prix series.

The official word was not out until recently as Jose Maria Lopez was also in talks with the Campos Meta 1 team with a bigger funding.

Following this, there was a change of ownership as Jose Ramon Carbante purchased Adrain Campos and called it the Hispanic Racing Team or HRT F1 with Colin Kolles as their team principal.

The other members of the team include Burno Senna, former iSport International mate from 2008 GP2 series and three times world champion from Brazil.

The elated father of Karun, Vicky Chandhok said, “Honestly, I don’t know what to say. I am absolutely overwhelmed and have tears in my eyes. It has been a tough journey, but very satisfying one for sure. He (Karun) has worked really hard to live his dream.”
