Over 1.25 lakh unemployed youths registered in 'Kalaignar 86'

According to DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, through 'Kalaignar 86,' a district level job fair initiative has offered jobs to as many as 1.05 lakh unemployed youths.

The job fair was organised by the DMK in the state as part of the birth day celebrations of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Kanimozhi, who is the initiator of the job fair, said it had grown from a small fair in Mallankinaru in Virudhunagar district about a year-and-a-half ago, in which about 800 job aspirants and 50 employers participated.

In the seventh fair at Tiruchi, it finds over 1.25 lakh persons registered and about 500 companies of various types.

When asked about the feedback from companies on the quality of the talent pool projected, she said, “The companies were generally happy. Candidates from rural and semi-urban areas could match their urban counterparts.”

She added, an information centre was declared open yesterday and would update information on job opportunities.
