New Time Out rules in IPL3

March 05, 2010 05:35 PM

IPL chairman Lalit Modi has announced new time out rules for the third edition of IPL. During this season a 5 minute timeout is been allotted for each innings.

Further they have also given the Batting and Fielding side to choose the timeouts as per their needs.

"The batting team would have to take the 2 and a half minute time-out mandatory between the sixth and eighth overs while the fielding side would have to take the time-out between the 11th and 16th overs"—Modi said.

When questioned whether players can leave the field during time outs, Modi replied they cannot.

He further said, "We have found out that these are the times the batting and fielding teams normally rearrange their strategies. The players will not leave the field of play but would confer in the middle."

Modi also said that they have found a new partner during time outs in the form of Maxx Mobiles.

"We have a new partner for strategic time-outs, Maxx Mobile, and the deal is for three years from season three commencing on March 12"—he added.

Modi also said that Maxx Mobiles will be the IPL’s play off partners.
