Pakistan to have separate team for T20 cricket

March 05, 2010 05:35 PM

Pakistan chief selector Mohsin Khan has suggested picking up a separate squad for Twenty20 format.

Mohsin also pointed that T20 cricket is damaging Test and one-day performances of the national squad.

Newly-appointed Mohsin said, "Twenty20 cricket has already damaged our Test and one-day performances. I will be suggesting to the board to have a separate Twenty20 team."

He also said that there are only few players capable of playing in all three formats of the game.

Mohsin would request the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt to have a different set-up for T20 matches.

"Some outstanding players like Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Fawad Alam, Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul fit into every format. But apart from these players, I would request the chairman to have a totally different set-up for this format. I believe in having a separate Twenty20 team, because it is hurting our Test performances,” he added.
