UPSC main exams results out

The results of the main examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) held in the month of October-November 2009 are out and around 300 from TN have been shortlisted for the interview.

Around 13,837 candidates wrote the main examination and only 2,281 were shortlisted. In Tamil Nadu around 637 candidates wrote the examination and 300 were called for the interview.

After a personality test, successful candidates will be selected for IAS, IPS and other central services. It is expected that the vacancies may rise to 900 when compared to the earlier 500, going by the trend.

The first round of interview will be conducted from March 22 to April 6 and the second round will be from April 7 onwards. All the interviews will take place in Delhi.

It is worth a mention here that around 4.2 lakh candidates applied for the civil service examination.
