Australia's top airports

Perth Airport is the third best airport in Australia, while Sydney came last in the list of top five main airports, according to report published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The rank points are based on the financial performance of the airports, the number of passengers that it gets and also the quality of services that is provided.

Perth Airport’s service quality results had declined, it has invested a large sum to overcome service problems.

According to the information in the annual report, it has infused 19 per cent of its asset value as part of the investment plan.

Perth Airport witnessed 9.7 million passengers coming at the airport in 2009, which is a 6 per cent rise over the previous year.

Brisbane Airport, was the top, which attained the best in all the parameters.

Sydney airport found just 1 per cent rise in the number of passengers to reach 93 million and for the fourth consecutive year was rated last.

Sydney airport recorded the highest price per passenger followed by Melbourne airport.

The numbers for Sydney was $13.63 and for Melbourne it came down to $7.96.
