Nobel Prize money goes to charities

The Nobel Peace prize money $1.4 million has been donated to 10 charities by the US President Barrack Obama, according to the White House sources.

The Fisher House that provides housing for patients’ families treated at the military and veteran hospital got the chunk of the money at $250,000.

The Haiti relief funds of Bill Clinton and George W Bush will get $200,000.

Other organizations that will receive the prize money are: College Summit, Posse Foundation, United Negro College Fund, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation, American Indian College Fund, AfriCare and the Central Asia Institute. The Central Asia Institute promotes community based education and literacy in remote regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan, with a special focus on girls.

The prize was awarded to Obama in October last year amidst huge controversy.
