PM’s words on ‘Women's Reservation Bill’

March 11, 2010 01:45 PM

Prime Minister termed the passage of Women's Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha as a historic moment and a giant step forward at the right time.

Manmohan Singh said, "The Bill that is going to be passed is a giant step forward and a historic moment."

"It will be a landmark legislation in Indian democracy,” he added.

Singh called this as the ‘right time’ for the Bill.

"Some members have expressed reservations about the minority community. Our government is committed to addressing them." He said while addressing the demand for 'quota-within-quota'.

"This is not an anti-minority Bill," he added.
