Secretariat inauguration will stall MRTS for half-an-hour

March 12, 2010 04:23 PM

The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will take part in the inauguration function of the Assembly Complex on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

As a part of the security process, the MRTS will be suspended for 30 minutes as the MRTS line runs very close to the newly constructed assembly complex.

The city police commissioner T Rajendran has already made necessary arrangements with the Southern Railways.

The new complex will see security arrangements from the Special Protection Group (SPG) and the city police. The complex has been sanitized on Thursday by the anti-sabotage team. From Friday onwards, a seven layer security will be provided to the complex.

The vehicular movement around the assembly complex will be restricted between 4.30 to 7 pm and public are requested to make necessary changes in their travel plans.

The program at the IIT has been cancelled and Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi will arrive straight for the inaugural function.
