March 12, 2010 04:23 PM

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a conflict over the women's bill, the party said it will issue a whip to its MPs to support the proposed legislation in the Lok Sabha.

BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, who is the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, said, "All the MPs will support the decision taken by the party leadership. A whip will be issued."

Sushma said all BJP MPs will support the party's decision to back the bill, which seeks to reserve a third of all seats in legislature for women.

Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath said that quotas for women were "needless" and he would oppose it in the Lok Sabha.
