UPSC recruitment process changed

The new aptitude-based test for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to come into effect from 2011.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Prithviraj Chavan, told Lok Sabha that the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) is expected to come into effect from Civil Services Examination, 2011.

“The CSAT is expected to come into effect from 2011,” the minister said.

Chavan said that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has approved the proposal for introduction of CSAT in place of the existing Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination.

CSAT which will test candidates on their aptitude and analytical abilities rather than their ability to memorise.

Chavan added that the examination system of the UPSC is updated from time to time to keep it in harmony with the changing environment.
