Dhoni injured

March 18, 2010 05:02 PM

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is injured after being hit in the forearm by a Shane Bond delivery during his match-winning unbeaten 66 against KKR.

It was earlier said that Dhoni will be out of action for 10 days. But the CSK official Russel Radhakrishnan dismissed it and said he is hopeful of playing against Royal challengers on Tuesday.

Dhoni left to his home town Ranchi and will rejoin the team on Sunday. Radhakrishnan also said that there will be fitness test on Sunday.

"If he is found fit on Sunday, he could well play against Royal Challengers, in Bangalore on Tuesday"—he said.

CSK management has announced that Suresh Raina will lead the side and Parthiv Patel will keep wickets until Dhoni returns.

CSK's director of cricketing operations VB Chandrasekhar said that Dhoni’s absence will be a huge loss for the team.

"The team is very reliant on him. He is the skipper; he keeps wickets and is a great batsman too. It's a hard blow for us"—he said.

"Dhoni's absence is a big loss for us"—he said.
