The final leg of election meeting took place in full swing in various parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. A group of directors under the banner of Film World’s Tamil Eelam Support Movement campaigned against the Congress party in Puducherry today near the New Bus Stand.

Noted film directors, Seeman, R K Selvamani, lyricist Snehan and many others took part in the election campaign. Bharathirajaa who was supposed to take

Seeman

part in the event was unable to make it as he was arrested following the black flag demonstration in Chennai yesterday.

The star speaker of the event Seeman elaborately explained the gory happenings in war-ravaged Sri Lanka. He pleaded for the security and freedom of the Tamils in the island nation and asked everyone to support the AIADMK combine which consists of MDMK, PMK, CPI and CPM for their stance on creating separate Tamil Eelam.

Remembering his arrest in Puducherry for his inflammatory speech, he said he decided to end his 10-day campaign in the same place (Puducherry).

He also highlighted the incompetence of the government to bring Cauvery water, resolution of Mullaiperiyar issue, Hogenakkal drinking water project and Palar project and claimed that Tamils were quiet on these issues but will not remain so when their race is being slaughtered by the Rajapaksa regime.

He also claimed that Sonia Gandhi has taken the lives of thousands of Tamils just to counter one death.

He blamed the Congress Government for the atrocities happening in the island nation and for shattering the 60 years old dream of the Sri Lankan Tamils.

Seeman also raised questions on why Indira Gandhi trained Prabhakaran and why Rajiv Gandhi sent Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) to Sri Lanka and asked if this is not interference in the sovereignty of a country. If that can be done why cannot the Indian government send their troops to form separate Eelam, he questioned.

Stating that this election is between money vs. racial affinity, he said that a true Tamil should vote for a party that recognises the welfare of their race and not for the hand symbol of Congress who are indirectly helping the Sri Lankan government in the war.

Questioning about the Rs 200 crores that was sent to Sri Lanka by the Indian Government recently, Seeman demanded for what purpose the funds were sent, whether to help Sinhalese or Tamils.

Finally on concluding his speech he urged the international community to revoke the ban on the LTTE.
