Vaiko’s loss

One of the prominent leaders in Tamil Nadu, Vaiko (MDMK), who is popular for raising his voice for the Sri Lankan Tamils, lost in Virudhunagar constituency to the Congress candidate Manick Tagore with a vote difference of 15,764. Another major contestant in the field was K Pandia Rajan of DMDK. The tech savvy Pandia Rajan gained some considered amount of votes by promising jobs for the youth in the region. Another known name in the fray was actor Karthik (NMK).

Vaiko is frustrated by the vote statistics as the total number of votes registered were 7,44,800 while the votes counted were 7,67,563.
