May 23 2009 11:10 AM

There was lot of allegations by politicians about malpractices that saw the victory of P Chidambaram in the recent polls. The latest to join the list is Subramanian Swamy.

In a recent media interview, he stated that, the victory of P Chidambaram is a sham and disgrace to democracy.

During the counting on May 16, 2009, Chidambaram was losing round after round but was finally announced triumphant. It is believed, that Mr. Chidambaram left the counting station anticipating his loss, only to return after few minutes to be declared the winner. The Returning Officer was in a hurry to announce his victory and handed over the certificate.

Swamy stated, “The officer issued the certificate within two minutes the results were announced. Never before a Returning Officer had issued the certificate with such urgency.”

Subramanian Swamy has sought a suo motu inquiry regarding the credibility of EVMs in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
