The DMK has always been the loyal ally of the Congress and is expecting rewards for their constant support and for backing Manmohan Singh as their prime ministerial candidate. It is expected that the DMK chief Karunanidhi would insist on choicest posts for his son MK Azhagiri, daughter Kanimozhi and grand nephew Dayanidhi Maran.

Sources also reveal that Karunanidhi may want to retain Shipping and Road Transport along with other Minister of State portfolios like Home, Finance, Law and Order, Justice and Forest. Since Health and Railways are vacant he may also pitch for those two portfolios, it is expected. The DMK chief may also try to accommodate TR Baalu and A Raja in the list.

Meanwhile, in the state, the Chief Minister’s son MK Stalin may become the deputy chief minister. The DMK executive meeting will support the cause in recognition for single handedly spearheading the victory of the DMK lead alliance. A decision is likely to be taken in the meeting today.
