DMK’s cabinet aspirations

The DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will meet the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi today, to discuss the cabinet berths.

The DMK chief may push for three cabinet berths this time, for his son MK Azhagiri, daughter Kanimozhi and grand nephew Dayanidhi Maran. He may also ask two Minister of State (MoS) slots for TKS Elangovan (MP, North Chennai) and Helen Davidson J (MP, Kanniyakumari). It is also said that TR Baalu may be pushed for the Speaker of the Lok Sabha position.

The DMK chief denied the rumors that the Local Administration Minister M K Stalin may become the deputy chief minister, stating that, “he will not ask for it. We will decide if he asks.”
