According to Tamilnet.com, the LTTE chief Prabhakaran is ‘alive and safe’. The announcement was given on the website without disclosing his whereabouts.

The page read, “I wish to inform the Global Tamil community distressed witnessing the final events of the war that our beloved leader Velupillai Prabhakaran is alive and safe. He (Prabhakaran) will continue to lead the quest for dignity and freedom for the Tamil people,” stated LTTE’s International Relations head S Badhmanathan.

Meanwhile, forensic scientist P Chandra Sekharan has stated that establishing the identity of the slain LTTE chief through DNA analysis is not easy. The Sri Lankan Army should either be in possession of the DNA sample or a sample needs to be got from Prabhakaran’s parents or siblings.
