Death of Sikh leader instigates violence in Jalandhar

In Vienna, the clash between two Sikh groups had resulted in the death of the Dera leader and injuring 30 others. The incident occurred on Sunday at the Gurudwara, when two sects attacked each other with knives and handguns. A six-member group attacked the people who were gathered for a sermon on Sunday. The police have arrested six people so far. The condition of the other priest who was injured is reported to be stable.

The Vienna incident has sparked violence in Punjab and Haryana today. The killing of the Dera leader has led to the imposing of indefinite curfew in Jalandhar city.

In the incident, one person was killed and four were injured in Lambra village near Jalandhar.

The Jammu Tawi-Kanyakumari Express was set on fire near cantonment station in Jalandhar following the incident.
