Obama invites Dr.Manmohan to Washington

Dr.Manmohan Singh had a telephone conversation this weekend with US President Barack Obama and expressed the desires to work together to address common global challenges like terrorism and economic downturn.

According to sources there had also been talks about climate changes.

The American President said the electoral verdict in India was an endorsement of the policies pursued by Singh's previous government. And congratulated him for being re-elected as the Indian Prime Minister.

Obama has officially invited Mr. Singh for an early visit to Washington and going forward Manmohan has reiterated his invitation to Obama and his family to visit India, which the President said was a priority for him.

According to the statement from the White House, Obama congratulated India on successfully completing the largest democratic exercise in the world, the recent Lok Sabha elections, calling it "a testament of the strength of India's democracy."
