International
Cricket Council has included 5 more
players to its Hall of Fame, which
includes former Pakistan captain Wasim
Akram and former Australian captain
Steve Waugh.
Along with Waugh and Akram three other
were also included namely Herbert
Sutcliffe, Clarrie Grimmett and Victor
Trumper.
Reacting to this Steve Waugh said
that he feels much honored to be included
in the ICC’s Hall of Fame along
with likes of Don Bradman.
"It is a great honor to be inducted
into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame
and to see my name feature alongside
such greats of the game including
the likes of Don Bradman," Steve
Waugh said.
On the other hand Akram said that
it is a perfect icing on the cake
for a decent career.
"This honour is the perfect icing
on the cake of a decent career. It
is a great feeling to know your contribution
and achievements in this fascinating
sport are being acknowledged in such
a way," he said.
Akram also said that he cannot forget
the match against India in 1999, during
which the 40,000 spectators gave a
standing ovation.
"Matches against India have always
been the most memorable ones for me,
especially our victory at Chennai
in 1999 where more than 40,000 spectators
gave us a standing ovation,"
he said.
