Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad appreciated Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and State Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for their contribution in the medical region.

Azad said he is worried over shortage of doctors and infrastructure in the NE region, he also assured help from the Centre to the State government and promised to launch well-equipped ICUs in the hospital.

Azad on his official visit to Nagaon Civil Hospital in the state, told the state health minister to provide financial support for development of infrastructure and other facilities in the district hospital.

“There were problems of specialized manpower in most of the NE states and there was a need to rationalize the available work force so that maximum facilities were made functional at each level and services were available to remote areas,” Azad said.
