Want to settle abroad? Canada is the best place: Says UN

October 06, 2009 07:38 PM

UNDP’s (United Nations Development Programme) report says that Canada is the best place for immigrant which accepts more than 250,000 immigrants each year.

The report also praises Canada’s liberal and fair immigration policies.

Canada accepts immigrants from more than 150 countries with India and China topping the list.

The report also says that more than 30,000 Indians enter Canada as immigrants. But it will take up to six years to get the applications processed in India.

UNDP executive secretary, David Morrison said that all Canadians can feel proud of the outcome of this report.

"All Canadians can be proud of what the report says about Canada''—he said.

He also said that migration is a process which has to be managed rather than a problem which has to be solved.

"There are one billion people on the move and that number is going to grow as we look to the future. So the report argues that migration is a process to be managed rather than problem to be solved”—he said.
