Statue removed in Madurai

Madurai Police has removed the Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar’s statue which was installed without official permission in Kamarajar Salai in Madurai.

They removed the statue with tight security around 10 am yesterday. Despite tight security few groups of men were found blocking the roads during the removal of the statue.

Sources say that police used mild lathi charge against the protesters. In the melee, a woman police personnel and a member of the public were injured.

The statue was then taken to the Corporation of Madurai for safe deposit.
