In
a recent survey conducted by the Media
Monitoring Cell of the Kerala Women's
Commission says that nearly 54 per
cent of women look at the box as a
major source of news and current affairs
programmes.
This clearly proves the interest shown
by women on political and public issue.
'This is a reflection of an attitudinal
change on the part of women, who are
showing greater interest in political
and social issues,' CPI(M) state committee
member T N Seema.
According to the poll numbers, 54
per cent of women were interviewed
during the survey said they are regular
television watchers and 53.73 per
cent of the voters said they looked
at the box as a major source of news
and information.
Where 7.87 per cent of voters are
fans of film-based programmes, including
song sequences and comedy clippings
and the rest 8.98 per cent of them
like reality shows.

in Kerala are educated. They have
been on the forefront of the struggles
for gender justice. Now, the recent
legislation would give them an opportunity
to directly take part in the grass
root level development, carried out
through the civic bodies. In such
a context, it is important for them
to be up-to-date on what has been
happening around them.'
