1.86 lakh free gas connections to be supplied by Nov 15

Tamil Nadu Government is planning to give around 1.86 lakh free LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) connections for the beneficiaries by November 15, this year.

And senior officials of oil companies have assured this to the Food and Civil Supplies Minister E.V. Velu.

Earlier Tamil Nadu government has announced the distribution of free LPG connections. And it has allocated Rs 140 crore for six lakh connections for the year 2009-10.

So far the government has successfully supplied 4.14 lakh for the beneficiaries. A meeting was conducted to review the status of the State government’s scheme for distribution of free LPG connections. And officials said that the remaining connections can be given by mid November this year.

Cylinders are being distributed on the basis of registration of requests. In case of grievances, consumers could call 155233 for Indian Oil Corporation; 26215575 for Bharat Petroleum Corporation and 28415153 for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation.
