Jaya asks Karuna to come out of UPA

October 24, 2009 07:20 PM

AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa has asked the Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi to withdraw the support given to the congress lead UPA government on the Mullaperiyar dam issue.

Kerala Government has earlier decided to conduct a survey on the dam and even the central government has given the green signal in this issue.

On the other hand TN government filed a case to get the stay order for the survey, for which the Supreme Court rejected the case.

Jaya also said that the filing the petition was a mere eye-wash.

“The petition had been filed only for the sake of filing and not with any real intention of stopping Kerala from carrying out the survey”—she said.

"He (Karunanidhi) has truly been let down by the Central Government.... he should withdraw his party's support to the Union Government immediately," she added.
