Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in response to a statement given by AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa regarding the World Classical Tamil Conference said that there is no political motive involved in the conference.

The chief minister said that the conference was finalized after consulting with Tamil scholars.

The World Classical Tamil Conference will be held from June 24, 2010 at Coimbatore. Early it was called World Tamil Conference but after classical status was given to Tamil, the word Classical is attached to the conference.
