TN protected from Maoists says DGP

The Police Commemoration Day ceremony was held today, this ceremony was observed to pay tribute to the police personnel who lost their lives while exercising their duty.

Speaking at this function Tamil Nadu Director General of Police K P Jain said that the state police have kept the terrorists at bay, especially left wing extremists.

DGP Jain paid homage to 833 police personnel who were killed on duty. He further said that police personnel are constantly facing danger for the cause of the nation and their sacrifice cannot go unrecognized.

Other top police officials who placed wreaths on the police memorial were DGPs R Natraj, Letika Saran, Bholanath and Chennai Police Commissioner T Rajendran. As a mark of respect for the policemen who lost their lives, a gun salute was accorded.
