Viduthalali Chiruthaikal Katchi (VCK) president Thol Thirumavalavan demanded that the Rajapaksa brothers be tried for war crimes in the International Criminal Court. Thriumavalavan was part of the delegation of MPs that visited Sri Lanka recently.

The well-known LTTE supporter has announced a demonstration on October 22nd in Chennai calling the international community to enforce economic sanctions on Sri Lanka for the war crimes committed by the island nation on innocent Sri Lankan Tamils.

Thirumavalavan furthered that the 2.50-lakh Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in the camps were being deprived of basic amenities like water. He said that it is a blatant human rights violation.

A report was submitted to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi explaining the conditions of the Tamils in the refugee camps. Responding to this, the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram granted Rs. 500 crore for rehabilitation work in Sri Lanka.
