Heir of late Andhra Chief Minister Y. S. Rajashekhara Reddy, Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Kadapa Congress MP, has paid Rs. 84 crore as individual advance tax collection for the first six months of the current financial year. His annual income is said to be Rs. 500 crore or much more.

His earnings can put to shame corporate biggies like the Tatas, Birlas or Ambanis.

Jagan Mohan had paid a paltry Rs. 2.92 lakh tax for the financial year 2008-09, and Rs. 6.72 crore for 2009-10. And now, in a significant jump his growth in the half-yearly tax has been more than 1,100% as compared to what he had paid for the same period in 2009. Advance income tax is paid by individuals twice a year.

Among other significant contributors to the exchequer are mining czars like Karnataka tourism minister Janardan Reddy's wife Gali Lakshmi Aruna, Kamaljeet Singh Ahluwalia, who has varied business interests in Rourkela and Barbil belt in Orissa and Ramamurthy Praveen Chandra. They have all contributed between Rs. 7 crore and Rs. 20 crore individually till September.
