  Re Postmortem done after mystery killing

A team of doctors on Monday performed re-postmortem on M Murugan’s body on Monday after exhuming. Murugan was working as an assistant quality control inspector in the Civil Supplies department in Thoothukudi.

The re-postmortem was done at the corporation burial grounds here based on the directions by Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. Natarajan and Rajavel from Government Medical College, Madurai conducted the re-postmortem.

It may be recalled that Murugan who was admitted to the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital on September 7 for allegedly consuming poison succumbed four days later. The case was under investigation by the CB CID following a petition submitted in the court by Dalit activist S Ramar.

The body was handed over to Murugan’s wife Selvi and relatives of Murugan after the re postmortem was conducted. The body was given to selvi to perform last rites as earlier the government authorities had buried the body after the family refused to accept it.

When the body was exhumed Murugan’s wife Selvi, Dr Xavier Selva Suresh from the petitioner’s side, CB-CID DSP Dayalan Tamilselvan, tahsildar Kauppasamy and relatives of Murugan were present.
