  South African national lost and found in Chennai

A South African national, who was found stranded near Mylapore on Saturday, was rescued by the passers-by and handed over to the police.

Mylapore assistant commissioner of police, Issac Paulraj said, "Kovarthanam, a 60- year- old South African citizen of Indian origin, had come to the city along with three relatives a couple of days ago and was staying at a guesthouse in Royapettah. They had visited Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore and on their return to the guesthouse, Kovarthanam lost her way and was stranded near the temple. A few passers-by rescued her and brought her to the Mylapore police station".

"We tried to locate her relatives and informed many guesthouses and lodges in the city. Airport immigration authorities were also informed to find out if someone was trying to depart to South Africa. Meanwhile, her relative Avvaiyar Naidu came to the police station on Sunday morning. Kovarthanam was lodged at the elderly home in Mylapore on Saturday ands she was taken to the station and reunited with Avvaiyar Naidu the next morning”, Mr. Isaac added.
