TN sending adulterated milk

Searches conducted by Health department officials of the Kerala government in vehicles transporting milk from a cooling plant at Bodi in Theni district on Thursday night, alleged that the commodity sent to Kerala was adulterated and the sachets contained less quantity than the prescribed level.

The officers claimed that their suspicion was justified when the milk processing plant owned by a private company received milk from all over the district. The milk is cooled, processed and sent to various parts of Kerala. Complaints of adulteration and underweight were also pouring in source say.

A team from the Kerala health department stopped the vans carrying milk sachets at Kumili check-post and measured the content in the sachets following complaints following which it was found out that though it was printed on the sachets that they contained 500 ml, they had only 450 ml of milk according to Kerala health department source.
