A father and son allegedly assaulted a woman SI when she went to arrest them in connection with a cheating case. They were nabbed by the city police on Sunday. The father, a former BSNL employee, and his son had shut down their private firm, which they were running without informing their partners.

Duraisamy (56) and his son Muralidharan (32) are residents of Padi Kuppam road in Tirumangalam. Muralidharan worked in a private company in Ambattur along with his friends Siva and Praveen. They quit their job a few months ago.

Muralidharan, along with his father, started a networking firm in which Siva and Praveen were partners. But Duraisamy and Muralidharan shut down the firm soon. They also refused to give the partners their money back and they assaulted Siva and Praveen, following which the victims lodged a complaint with Tirumangalam police.

Following this, sub-inspectors Sivagami and Kala Rani registered a case against him. When Sivagami went to Mogappair to arrest them, they reportedly pushed her to the ground and beat her up and abused her in foul language, police said. Sivagami lodged a complaint immediately with the JJ Nagar police, after which a police team rushed to the spot and arrested Duraisamy and Muralidharan.
