Selvanayaki (25), daughter of Ragunayagam of Ayakudi near Palani was undergoing training in the 14th battalion of Tamil Nadu Special Police Force. She became ill and had gone to a hospital and while returning, Selvanayaki was teased by Abdul Hareem of Erumaikara Street in Palani who was arrested for teasing a woman police constable and threatening her with a knife.

When Selvanayaki had chided the man heated exchange followed later. Abdul had abused the woman in an obscene language and threatened Selvanayaki with a knife.

Following a complaint lodged by Selvanayaki, Abdul was arrested by the police.

He was earlier arrested in a bomb explosion case in Coimbatore and released last year. Abdul was produced in the court and remanded to custody.
