A police constable killed two women
with whom he had been having extra marital affairs. He later committed
suicide.
A married constable, V. Esakkai Muthu (32), who was attached to
the ninth battalion of Tamil Nadu Special police at Manimuthar,
hacked one of his lovers, a woman constable, at Tirunelveli and
later gunned down his other lover in Kanyakumari out of frustration
and sexual jealousy before shooting himself.
Muthu was found lying dead with Geetha (39), the wife of one of
his relations, at her house on Monday morning at Boothapnadi in
Kanyakumari district and both had bullet injuries on their bodies,
police said.
Police also believe that Muthu had intimate sexual relationship
with Geetha. Geetha’s husband works abroad. But Muthu and Geetha
quarreled six months ago and their relationship had soured. This
would have forced Muthu to kill Geetha and later take his own life.
Even as police were investigating the murder and suicide at Boothapandi,
they got information that a 36-year-old woman constable was sexually
assaulted and hacked to death at Manimuthar in Tirunelveli. The
victim, who was identified as Uma Maheswari, is the wife of a CRPF
jawan and was also close to Muthu.
But Muthu, who was against her friendliness with other policemen,
had fought with her frequently. “Muthu had taken Uma Maheswari to
an isolated place and hacked her to death on Sunday night reveal
circumstantial evidence”, a source said.
Muthu would have been enraged and murdered both the women after
they refused to entertain his sexual advances and wanted to end
their relationship with him, police said.
