  Oct 21, 2010 04.30 PM

US bound passengers who are already subjected to random security checks and boarding processes will now have to furnish additional information while booking tickets.

The rule is that all passengers travelling to the US must include their date of birth (as it appears on a government-issued ID card) and gender, in addition to their full name on all bookings) and it will be effective from November 1, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced this on Wednesday.

The inclusion of additional data was in accordance with the ‘Secure Flight Passenger Data’ programme, wherein passengers will have to include the additional information, in addition to their full name on all bookings, 72 hours prior their intended departure.

Passengers are required to provide their date of birth and gender and also the Redress Number (if available) for the purpose of watch list screening as per rules.

This regulation will applicable to all international flights to and from the United States and also within the US, irrespective of when the booking is made.

Passengers will be refused boarding by the US authorities if they failed to provide the necessary Secure Flight Passenger Data TSA said. TSA may share information you provide with law enforcement or intelligence agencies under its published system of records notice.

Indian passengers travelling to the US on or after Nov 1 and those who are in possession of a ticket that does not include the full Secure Flight Passenger Data will have to complete verification before departure the administration said.
