In a case involving Vaiko and Nedumaran, Vaiko argued in his cross examination that there was no opposition from the US government when Tamil Eelam government was formed in Philadelphia by those who crossed frontiers despite ban on LTTE in the US and Europe. He said this while appearing before the Tribunal set up to hear the case related to Unlawful Activities Prevention Act on whether to continue with ban on LTTE outfit. Vaiko himself argued the case before Justice Vikramajit Sen, Judge of Delhi High Court who was designated to hear the case on extension of ban on LTTE outfit. While World Tamils Forum president P Nedumaran was represented by his lawyer Chandrasekaran. The first sitting of the tribunal was held in Delhi while the second in Chennai and the third one now in Udhagamandalam. The pro-LTTE attitude after 2008 was not only against the sovereignty of the nation but also a threat to internal security said P K Mishra, director, Internal Security, Home Affairs in his argument. Vaiko after his deposition before the tribunal said that he was
optimistic of a favorable ruling since there was a general perception
that the ban on LTTE shouldn’t continue. He expressed hope of a
fruitful result during the next sitting in Chennai on October 28. |
