  Two held in desecrating Rajiv Gandhi statue

Chennai police has arrested Prakash (24) and Santhosh kumar (26) for desecrating Rajiv Gandhi statue at Ashok Nagar.

Both of them have placed garland of footwear at former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's bust located at Ashok Nagar.

Due to the after-effect of protests by Congress cadres at various parts of the city, police has arrested them. They have been booked under the sections of 155 (A), 504 and 355 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

More than 150 Congress cadres, who staged the protest under north Chennai district president Royapuram Mano, were arrested and later let off.
