One
of the world’s leading mobile
manufactures NOKIA has bought social
network for travelers, Dopplr. Nokia
has bought this from its private share
holders.
Dopplr is a free social networking
service, launched in 2007. It allows
its users to create a detailed plan
for a journey and spot correlations
with their contacts’ travel
plans in order to arrange meetings
at any point on their journey.
This acquisition will definitely strengthen
its push in offering internet services,
the area in which it is focusing other
than mobile manufacturing.
Nokia has announced that it will run
Dopplr separately from its other current
services.
A Nokia spokeswoman said that the
price "was a fraction" of
the 10-15 million Euros ($14.7-$22.0
million) estimate mentioned in reports.
