Scientists are spending time to identify the magical herb ’sanjivani’ ,it literally means something that offers life, its not just a myth. In the Indian epic Ramayana, Lord Hanuman carried the mountain with the sanjivani herb to save the life of Lord Ram’s dying brother Lakshman.

National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) has found a few Himalayan herbs which has similar description of the sanjivani, five scientists are teamed and working around to know the medicinal content of the found herb.

A 10-member NBRI team has collected a large number of Sanjivani plants from Mirzapur forests for experiment purpose .

“We are engaged in a genetic analysis of these herbs to zero in on what we are looking for in a true sanjivani herb,” Head of the team P.N. Khare.

One of the herb has the description which equals to the sanjivani, is found to have a special property, it can rejuvenate itself from almost dead-dry state by absorbing water as and when available.

“In fact, we are looking into this unique feature, which is quite rare and appears to be the key factor for its hidden rejuvenating strength,” Khare said.
