ICC has fined both Sri-Lanka and England for their slow over rates in the Group B Champions trophy matches yesterday.

It is to be noted that Sri-Lanka played against New Zealand and England played against the host South Africans.

In a statement, the International Cricket Council said that Sri Lanka, who lost by 38 runs to New Zealand at the Wanderers, were ruled two overs short in the allotted time.

They have also announced that the Sri-Lankan captain Kumara Sangakara was fined 20 percent of his match fees while his players were fined 10 percent.

On the other hand England was also fined for their slow over rate. Skipper Andrew Strauss was fined 10 percent of his match fee and the rest of the team five percent.

Despite their slow over rate England managed to beat the South Africans by 22 runs in a crunch match.
