  New Chief Secretary for TN

S. Malathi, IAS, took charge as the Chief Secretary of the state on Tuesday becoming only the second woman to occupy the post.

Ms. Malathi, who succeeds K.S. Sripathi as Chief Secretary, is only the second woman after Lakshmi Pranesh. Mr. Sripathi held the post for two years and his tenure was extended since April 2010. She was appointed as Collector for North Arcot district in the year 1987.

Ms. Malathi was the Vigilance Commissioner and Commissioner for Administrative Reforms before this appointment.

Later, Mr. Sripathi and Ms. Malathi called on Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
